Presented by Spirits New Zealand Inc. and Distilled Spirits Aotearoa (NZ) Inc. the New Zealand Spirits Awards is a celebration of spirits in New Zealand. As spirits become more popular and New Zealand produced products grow in significance it is timely for a New Zealand based spirits awards to judge and award the best available products in the market, in a New Zealand context. To help New Zealand consumers select and enjoy the best spirits available to them and to measure how well the New Zealand produced products stand up against the best in the world available here. 

Spirits New Zealand and Distilled Spirits Aotearoa saw the opportunity to bring a spirits competition to New Zealand and were looking to partner with an event agency to facilitate the development of a new awards programme and launch it to the spirits market.

Working closely with the committee, we designed a framework for the judging component of the awards, to ensure credibility and hold our judges to the highest standards of fairness, accuracy and integrity.  

A robust online entry form was created through EventsAir which integrated into an online tool for the judges scoring during three days of judging.  Moving to a more sustainable practice and going paperless was very important to us.  

At Avenues, we understand the diligence required to ensure fairness in judging and a smooth experience for all participants to encourage them to continue to strive for excellence in their field and enter again in following years.  

Avenues managed the logistics of receiving all entries, checking categories, setting up product codes for blind judging tastings, onsite logistics and recording all online scores.

Obtaining financial security for the event was vital and Avenues managed the sponsorship acquisition for the awards and ensured all sponsorship benefits were delivered accordingly.

All collateral and material were designed and produced in-house including all social media content, eDM communications and producing the results booklet, and coordinating the trophies and medals for winner.

Full event management for the awards dinner was key to the planning to recognise the trophy winners and facilitate the celebrations.

With experience as an industry leading event management company, we have proven competencies in all aspects to deliver an awards dinner experience.   We have assisted the committee to establish this event in New Zealand, built their social media profile and continue to work with them to grow the awards year on year.
